New building materials sometimes appear on the Russian market. As new products, it is difficult for them to conquer the market. But when a price crisis occurs (an increase in prices for popular building materials), then many begin to look for: how to replace this or that building material.

Everyone knows how much metal has risen in price, especially rolled metal: roofing iron in its versions of profiled sheet and metal tiles. It is clear that if there are other proposals with characteristics no worse, they will be chosen. These analogs include fiberglass products. Everyone has heard about fiberglass fittings for a long time. There has also been a long debate over whether it is possible to replace it with an iron one. But this is not the point now.

A certain analogue of iron roofing sheets appeared in this direction - the production of fiberglass slate and profiled sheet.

The line of manufacturers includes both colored and transparent sheets. This product should not be confused with profiled polycarbonate, which has a relatively low load-bearing capacity due to its sheet thickness and material properties.

The material here is the same as that used in the production of fiberglass reinforcement (fiberglass threads glued with a polyester binder). Resistance to mechanical stress is higher than that of metal, bends, but does not break, and the original shape returns after deformation.

Roof view. I think that it is no worse than that of a colored profiled sheet and is somewhat reminiscent of colored slate, but with a greater gloss. Such a roof will shine in the sun. Snow from the roof will roll in the same way as from the metal profile. We need snow holders. Slate in this regard is not so slippery.

Components have been added to the fiberglass composition that prevent the destruction of the material from ultraviolet radiation. There is no thermal expansion like metal. The sheets can have different thicknesses: from 0.8 m to 1.5 mm. Sheet width 1.1 m. Length - 2 m, but they can be made up to 6 m. Wave height in slate format: 40 mm. While the colors are: colorless, green and brown. They are also made in sizes similar to a metal profiled sheet: C8, C20, C25, HC25 and there is even an imitation of a block house for facades. Flammability class G4 (slightly flammable).

And most importantly, what is the price? From 800 rubles / m2. Those. sheet, 1100x2000 mm, comparable to profiled sheet has a cost - 1760 RUB Whereas the professional sheet S-8, 1200x2000 mm, 0.4 mm - 1950 RUB And the thickness of 0.5 mm is even higher. The difference is small, but due to certain consumer characteristics, fiberglass slate or profiled sheet may be preferable to someone.
