How to mount a warm water floor on a wooden floor: one of the simple and quickest ways
It is believed that a warm water floor is not suitable for all buildings and premises. For example, in an old wooden house, where there is not enough height for pouring a full-fledged screed, it is either impossible to install, or very costly and problematic. But this is not the case! There is a technology that will allow you to mount a warm water floor directly on a wooden floor. It is suitable for any building, including frame frames. We will tell you about it today!
What needs to be taken care of in advance?
If underfloor heating is installed on the first floor of an old wooden building, care must be taken that the floor is insulated. Otherwise, if the wind blows under the logs, the efficiency of this heating system will significantly decrease. It is advisable that there is at least 150 mm of insulation under the floor.
How to install a warm water floor?
The installation algorithm for underfloor heating on wooden floors is very simple. Let's go over it in more detail:
- Remove the old floor covering. Thoroughly clean the boards from paint (if any), treat with an antiseptic.
- Fill the gaps between the boards with silicone or polyurethane sealant. This is necessary so that the leveling compound does not leak in them.
- Place the underfloor under the warm water floor with grooves for a 9.9 mm pipe.
- Place the plastic pipe (diameter 9.9 mm) into the grooves in the backing. The small diameter of the pipe will reduce the thickness of the structure.
- Connect the pipe to the heating system via a return limiting valve.
- Fill the warm floor with water, check the tightness and performance of the system.
- Fill the resulting structure with a floor leveling mixture.
When the mixture has risen, install the finished floor. In this case, choose a floor covering that is combined with an underfloor heating system. That is, it can withstand high temperatures and does not emit harmful substances when heated.
