New Year's holidays have arrived. And there was time again to come to the dacha and run the bathhouse every day! Ah, beauty! The bathhouse and the summer cottage have only one drawback - firewood is needed to kindle the stoves. For a house and a bath - this is a lot of firewood. And firewood is not cheap now. Well, melting the stove is a laborious process. Well, this is me, of course, as a resident of a human being, I argue))

He stopped lighting the stove with wood. There is a more economical, efficient and more convenient way. And why didn't I know about him before

Over the past years I have been buying firewood. But they have so many shortcomings - it is expensive, they take up a lot of space, there is a lot of garbage from them, the kindling is long. I also had to prick them myself. Well, or "throw away" a large amount of money for a split.

But this year I have done without firewood. A friend suggested to me a very convenient and rather economical way of kindling the stove - briquettes. As a city dweller, I was not interested at all in what could be used to light the stove. And as the dacha appeared, I used the only way I knew - firewood. This year I experimented with briquettes. And I realized that this is a very convenient fuel.

Briquettes are compressed sawdust. The sawdust is collected, dried, thermally treated and pressed into briquettes. This is not as easy a process as it might seem. But for sure it is very profitable for manufacturers. Mountains of waste in the form of sawdust remain in sawmills. And now some clever person found a use for them - the production of briquettes for kindling ovens.

We have a sawmill not far from the dacha and a briquettes factory nearby. This year I stopped by and bought directly from this plant. Compared to firewood, purchasing is very convenient. I just put a ton of briquettes in the trunk of my car and drove home. They take up much less space. Compared to firewood - less than 5 times. And there is practically no garbage left from them.

The cost of briquettes is different. It also depends on the region, on the availability of sawmills nearby, on the season. I bought in the summer at a very good price. Compared to firewood for me, briquettes turned out to be more profitable.

Knowing that sawdust (and hence briquettes) are afraid of dampness, he worried that they could become with them before winter. But it turned out that for safety, briquettes are packed in plastic bags - 12 pieces in each bag. This is very prudent on the part of the manufacturers. The briquettes in the country house were perfectly preserved.

If you use it, do not forget to store the briquettes in a dry place!

The briquettes are very easy to ignite in the oven. This is also a plus for me. You can light it up with burning paper, birch bark, or use a burner, as I do.

In terms of efficiency: in the oven, briquettes burn out in about 12 hours. When burned, they become like coal. Heat gives a lot. And most importantly, they burn out longer than birch firewood.

According to my calculations - it turned out more economical than using firewood. And most importantly, it is convenient and effective.

They say that briquettes have one drawback. But I have not checked it yet

They told me that if you use briquettes, then the chimney will have to be cleaned often. I can't say anything about this yet. There is definitely less ash left than from firewood. And what will happen to the pipe - wait and see!

Tell us how you heat the stove? Do you have experience in using briquettes? And what about the chimney - what to prepare for?
