How should the light in the room be turned off - with the up button or the down button. An important thing that is not thought about

How, in Soviet times, everything was easier with all the switches and switches. Everything is clear: up - enable, down - disable. But now we strive to live like in Europe and install switches like in Europe. Therefore, when we make repairs, we ask each client: How convenient is it for the switch to turn on the light with the button up or button down? To me, this is such a stupid question! But "the client is always right."

Before, everything was clear. SNiPs and GOSTs (SNiP and GOST R 50571) were in effect:

• Up - incl. Down - off;
• From myself - incl. On myself - off.

These rules were introduced for a reason. Everything was provided for convenience and safety. Now, such requirements are not imposed on switches. The switch button when turning on the light can be directed both up and down. But there is PUE p. 4.1.9, where the safe installation of the switch is clearly formulated. And it seems to me that when connecting switches, you should also rely on this principle. It sounds like this:

Chopping devices must be installed so that they cannot close the circuit spontaneously, under the influence of gravity.

In other words, it says that switches in shields and other automation should be turned on with the lever up, and turned off with the lever down. There are two good reasons for this:

1. In an emergency, when it is urgently necessary to cut off the flap, it is easier and faster to lower the lever down, so the shutdown should be done in this way.
2. Under the influence of gravity, an object can fall on the lever, for example, during repair work. And this falling object must not include electricity. Therefore, the lever should be directed up when turned on, and down when turned off.

I read a joke somewhere: in automatic machines, the switches should be directed upward when turned on, so that the falling electrician cuts off the voltage with his body... A bit of black humor ...

These rules apply to any wiring products, both for modular automation and for shields with circuit breakers, where the handle is outward. And I think that they should also touch the switches. After all, for electricians such things should be brought to automatism. And already on a subconscious level, a good electrician must first of all think about quality and safety, and therefore install any EUI with a button or lever, which, when turned on, will be directed upward, and when turned on, go down down.

Any wiring product needs to function according to this rule: up - turn on, down - turn off. I believe that this connection is technically sound. The most interesting thing is that in Soviet times everything was exactly like that. And now they do as they want.
