It became clear why the next test of the South Korean carrier rocket Nuri ended in failure

Just a couple of months ago, another test launch of the Nuri carrier rocket, created in South Korea, was carried out. The tests were considered unsuccessful due to the fact that the third stage of the rocket was unable to launch a simulated payload into the calculated orbit.

According to telemetry data, this happened due to the premature shutdown of the third stage engine, and only now it became known why this happened.

Failed tests and their causes

So, immediately after the incident, a special commission was created, which began to thoroughly study the incident. Initially, the Nuri rocket (KSLV-II) successfully launched from the cosmodrome.

Further departments of all three stages also passed according to the staffing table and without any complaints. But the propulsion system of the third stage worked only 475 seconds instead of the required 521 seconds.

This did not allow to put 1,500 kilograms of simulated payload into low-earth orbit at an altitude of 700 km. During the work of the commission, it was possible to establish that oxygen ceased to flow into the engine, which runs on an oxygen-kerosene mixture.

And the reason for the cessation of the oxygen supply was that during the acceleration of the stage, it broke off from its mountings. a helium cylinder, which, in turn, damaged the oxygen container and thus interrupted its supply to engine.

Now South Korean experts are working on eliminating structural deficiencies in the propulsion system. system, and the next scheduled launch of the already updated Nuri launch vehicle should take place in May of the current of the year.

Well, it looks like another player is emerging in the space industry. Of course, while in South Korea, not everything is going smoothly in the tests, but, as they say, the road will be mastered by the walking one.
