A photonic technology has been created in Russia that will allow tracking the smallest space debris
The unique photonic technology was developed by the Russian holding company "Russian Space Systems" (RKS), which is part of the state corporation "Roskosmos". This technology will make it possible to control the near-earth space for sufficiently small objects (debris) that are gradually accumulating in the near-earth space of the Earth.
New technology that can track the smallest pieces
Thus, domestic experts suggested using high-resolution optoelectronic devices to record the coordinates of even small space objects with great accuracy.
And it is proposed to observe objects through the use of ground-based optical telescopes, which will collect and use the photon counting method to register sufficiently weak signals with further photoreporting detection - optical image encoding and subsequent computational decoding in order to obtain an enhanced image permissions.
As a result, such a system will make it possible to track the flight trajectory of even relatively small objects with high accuracy, which will maximize the safety of future spacecraft flights.
And also give commands in advance to change the trajectory of flights of satellites and stations in order to prevent a dangerous approach and, moreover, collisions with space debris.
It is not yet known when exactly this technology will be introduced. But the fact that the Russian Federation has it suggests that the exploration of near-Earth space without the active involvement of our specialists and domestic technologies will be extremely problematic and will require significantly more time for the creation and implementation of other technological solutions.
Well, we will observe the development and further use of the proposed solution. Well, if you liked the material, then do not forget to rate it, as well as subscribe to the channel. Thank you for your attention!
