I did the laying of aerated concrete using the "glue + foam" method. Now, when the house is already 3 years old, I think: did it make sense, or did I waste time in vain?

I try to approach every stage of the construction of my house as responsibly as possible. But sometimes, I do it with too much zeal, and only after a while (when the smoke clears) you start to see the reality...

Friends, hello to all. In some articles on my channel, where I post pictures of my house, people ask me:

And what kind of krivorukov did the laying of the walls, that he had to foam the cracks?

And after all, many people really do not understand how the laying of walls is connected with foam?

Not everyone is even ready to recognize aerated concrete as a building material. And the fact that laying can be done on a special glue-foam, for someone is complete nonsense. Although this technology is already widely used in modern construction.

Entire houses are on the foam, and everything is fine... (the image is taken as an example from Yandex Pictures).

And in the walls of my house, the foam is just present not as a result of correcting errors, but as an initially planned element.

There is only one "but".

I did the masonry not on one glue-foam, but in tandem with a standard cement adhesive for aerated concrete.

That's how it all started...
That's how it all started...

I did not come up with this option myself, but I saw it on the Internet.

The bottom line is that cement glue, like it or not, shrinks. And if this does not matter in horizontal seams, then cracks can form in vertical seams. This will not affect the strength of the masonry, but it can affect the thermal efficiency of the walls.

This idea seemed sensible to me, so I decided to get confused.

Although all this combination took much more time for laying. While you put on one, then another. With foam there are always some difficulties (then it doesn’t go, then it blows away with the wind, then the gun jammed). To cement glue, I somehow adapted faster and easier.

What can you say after a while?

  • The box in my house is three years old, and I can say that in my case, this technology may have been useful.
When the walls have been unfinished for so long, then of course all these possible micro-slits in the seams could affect the comfort inside the house, especially in winter.
  • But if you do not stretch the construction site like me, but do everything quickly and consistently (as it should be), then everything masonry nuances (not only seams, but also many other jambs) are hidden by a fine finish, in the form plasters.

I messed up, okay.

I have long abandoned the idea that everything should be perfect. The reality is that you can’t do without jambs, the main thing is to prevent major blunders. And to do extra work, sometimes only for the benefit, the experience will be better absorbed.

Friends, what do you think about the different ways of masonry? Write your opinion in the comments and share your experience. It's always helpful.
