“ENOUGH - you don’t need to clean the snow anymore”: what marketers are lying about, pumping in their know-how
Just imagine, it was snowing at night. When you woke up, everything around was in snowdrifts, and the exit from the garage and the paths near the house were clean - all the snow seemed to be removed by someone. You no longer need to practice with a shovel until the seventh sweat. There is no need to peel off the garage door leaves frozen to the ground. You don't have to get up an hour early to get it all done and not be late for work. In addition, you prolong the life of sidewalk paths, do not damage flowers and lawn, and also save money.
That's how I got hooked on a marketer who was trying to sell a sidewalk de-icing system. Sellers persistently, competently and confidently talk about the benefits of their products. They have weighty arguments with which everything can be confirmed. But if you look, the advantages turn into disadvantages. Don't let yourself be fooled.
Increasing the life of sidewalks
Marketers argue that with mechanical cleaning, paving slabs quickly become unusable. There is some truth in this statement. If you use an ice ax or a crowbar, there are really high chances of chipping the tiles.
But let's consider what happens when snow is removed by melting, warming the pavement underneath.
It's frosty outside. Snow. The heating was turned on under the pavement. The snow melted and the heating was turned off. Let's say it's dry on the surface, but the paving slabs are still saturated with water, and then freeze.
One of the characteristics of concrete is frost resistance. It shows how many cycles of "freeze-thaw" in a water-saturated state can withstand concrete.
The freeze-thaw cycle occurs each time the snow is thawed by heating. Either you need to warm up the track until it dries out to its full thickness (consider the economy), or the tile will begin to crumble much earlier than it would be without warming up.
Damage to flowers and lawn
The marketer said that we cause damage to the lawn, flowers and shrubs, filling them with snow with chemicals. Seriously?
He most likely read about chemicals in some manual on urban utilities. I lived half my life in a private house. I do not remember that one of my friends and acquaintances used chemistry in their yard. Maximum table salt to locally remove ice.
But by covering the bushes with snow, we help them not to freeze and it is easier to survive the harsh winters.
Much worse if the bushes are planted near the "warm" sidewalk. They will not be able to understand spring now or winter. "Hibernate" or open buds. I think with heating there is a higher risk of ruining plants. However, it all depends on the climate.
Savings in the future
I always get tense when marketers talk about saving. Theory rarely matches what comes out in practice. More often it turns out that "the miser pays twice."
The seller insisted that it would not be necessary to buy snow blowers, shovels, scrapers and other equipment. And if we compare the labor costs and the cost of an hour of our time, we save crazy money.
As in a joke with a smoker. Calculate how much money you spend on cigarettes per year. Here! And if they didn’t smoke, they could become a millionaire ...
But the seller did not say anything about the cost of installation and subsequent operation of his magical system. Automation alone will cost 150-200 thousand rubles. Here also consider.
I have nothing against the installation of snowmelt systems. This is a great solution if you are willing to pay for the comfort. I just can't stand it when they shove something into you by hook or by crook. And then it turns out thatrodavtsy lied with three boxesa.
