Technological progress has led to the fact that every apartment has electrical appliances, without which we cannot imagine existence. This is a food processor, and a blender, and a hair dryer. What do these devices have in common? Achieving their low price, the manufacturing company often uses non-separable mechanical or electrical structures, which, in the event of a breakdown, have to be completely replaced. Often the cost of repairs is comparable to the cost of a new electrical appliance.

The most vulnerable in such devices are small plastic parts that can be destroyed under the influence of temperature or environmental factors, for example, gears in a rotating mechanism. Let's replace the blender gears ourselves.

For work, we need universal glue, children's polymer plasticine, epoxy resin, a file.

Search and removal of gears

The part that rotates the blender knife is the most vulnerable, start looking for a breakdown from it. Carefully separate the removable bottom to get to the damaged gears. Exposure to moisture and constant stress leads to cracking or breaking of plastic parts.

Remove the damaged parts from the mechanism, clean the undamaged parts. Form a new one from broken gears, cutting off the damaged parts with a clerical knife, glue the parts all-purpose adhesive, make sure that the number of teeth in the resulting workpiece matches the number of teeth in original.

Let the workpiece dry well.

Making a polymer mold

To make new gears, we need a mold that can be made from children's polymer plasticine. To do this, a small piece of plasticine needs to be rolled into a bundle and carefully wrap the gear blank with it. It is best to do this on a flat plastic surface, on which we will later make new parts.

The finished form of plasticine must be carefully removed from the workpiece. To do this, carefully move the edge of the plasticine, remove the gear and return the edge to its original place, and fix the plasticine mold on the plastic surface. There are as many such forms to be made as there are gears in the mechanism. Better to replace them all.

Making new gears

Prepare the epoxy as instructed and carefully pour it into the resulting molds. Let the material harden and then remove the new gears from the resin molds.

In the resulting parts, you need to cut the grooves with a file to the required depth to get the teeth of the same size as the original gears. You can use a small drill for this. Check the fit of the parts in size, and then make a hole in the center of the gears with a thin drill.

Install the finished parts in the mechanism in place of the damaged ones, fix the mechanism and install it in the appliance.

After replacing the parts, your blender or mixer will be able to live a long life, delighting you with its functionality.
