I was told: "penetrating waterproofing is just marketing." Showing the result, from the current basement to today.

There are people who still dream of having a basement in their house, and I am one of them. And although for me, it turned out to be a small room (the construction of which took a lot of effort, just as much to bring everything to mind), but I'm happy with it. Especially when it's quiet...

Friends, hello to all. There was a period that on my channel, every other day I released articles dedicated to the work with my basement. From the outside, I could get the impression that I was going to live in it 😁. I hope it will not come to this, but nevertheless a certain, important role was assigned to this room ...

  • That's why I thought of him when there was nothing.
There was only a foundation pit for the ohm foundation, and I decided to fill in a concrete basement.

  • And continued despite the difficulties ...

And as you probably already understood, the main task was to eliminate leaks in the concrete structure.

Initially, I knew that these difficulties could arise, since the water table is high, especially in spring and autumn. But I did not immediately take care of the waterproofing (which had to be done outside). So I had to suffer later.

At first there were experiments with "folk remedies" from liquid glass and cement ...

All this goodness fell off safely after half a year, and did not bring any benefit.

Then I decided to try special technologies.

And here, from what you can do with your own hands, penetrating waterproofing was suitable. And somehow too perfect ...
  • Just dilute the dry mixture, you get a fairly liquid consistency.
  • Then you apply with a brush on the walls and the floor in one layer, let it dry and another layer (so as much as you want).
  • And wait for the magic to happen: the solution penetrates deep into the concrete, and crystallizes creating a waterproof structure.
It does sound like a fairy tale. But other than that, I didn't know what else to try.

What is the end result...

✔ After one applied layer, there was still one leak. I patched it up and applied another layer.

✔ Then a month later, I missed again, and never returned to this issue.

Summer has already come, the water level has gone, and even theoretically there could be no water. I took care of my water purification system, which I planned to place in the basement.

Here is one of its main purposes...

Under the barrels, I additionally leveled the floor with a solution, and once again smeared the entire basement with penetrating waterproofing.

More than six months have passed, and the result is pleasing.

  • This whole multi-layer cake, made of waterproofing, stays on the surface like a monolith, does not crack or peel off.
  • There are also no leaks. Even though autumn has passedthe water level has risen a lot), now, in winter, it also doesn’t go down much, and the basement copes with it.

Now we have the main test of spring floods.

Looking at how much snow has fallen this winter, and imagining how it will all begin to melt, I understand that the test will be serious.

Last spring, there were leaks even in the middle of the wall. Now the level can rise even higher. But I hope for the best...

I'll be sure to report back on the results.
