Roofing self-tapping screws, combined with a trailer in the form of a drill, have gained great popularity.

Self-tapping screws are produced with a frequent thread pitch for connecting, for example, a thin sheet, pipe or other rolled profile. Products with a sparse thread are designed to work with plastic, wood, and products of its processing. To provide waterproofing and prevent corrosive liquid precipitation from soaking the edges of holes sheet metal, self-tapping screws are supplied with a sealing ring made of synthetic rubber, as well as a metal sealing puck.

All produced roofing screws have a zinc or anodized coating, additionally protected by colored enamel.

Methods for installing coatings using self-tapping screws

For screwing with a screwdriver, a special one-piece or collapsible nozzle for the hexagon of the self-tapping screw is produced. One of its ends is clamped in the collet head, and the other, having a hexagonal recess, covers the self-tapping screw when screwing. In this case, an unacceptable play is often found between the nozzle and the screw, which makes it difficult to perform work with one hand, since the screwdriver constantly flies off the screw, and when holding the screw with the other hand, you can easily get injured from the jumped off nozzles. The safe use of this tool is only possible when the screw is screwed vertically down. Other options, such as drilling at an angle or "bottom up" can often seem completely impossible.

"Cunning" use of a screwdriver

There is still a way to securely drive a self-tapping screw into any inclined part of a steel roofing or sheathing sheet to securely fasten it to the base.

The solution is very simple - first you need to completely abandon the adapter with a hex recess. Well, then:

1. Move the sealing ring and the sealing washer to a distance of 7-10 millimeters from the head.
2. Expand the screwdriver collet to the maximum and insert a self-tapping screw into it with a hexagon inside.
3. In the standard way (manually or with a special key), clamp the head of the screw in the collet head.

The resulting rigid backlash-free screwdriver-screw system will ensure screwing from any, even the most uncomfortable position. Final screwing can be done either with a flat or Phillips screwdriver bit, or by hand with a suitable screwdriver.

The extension of the "cunning" method to other connections during repairs and decoration

It should be noted that in the same way it is possible to lay the roofing finish, made not only from metal sheet, but also panels made of polymeric materials, as well as internal and external sheathing with metal or plastic siding and panels.

The method is also applicable to:

• production of fences, barriers;
• insulated and non-insulated partitions;
• ventilated pitched and flat roofs, as well as facades.

The use of this technique facilitates and speeds up the work of the performer when performing roofing and other finishing work with his own hands, making it possible to get by with a minimum of helpers and assistants.
