Specialists of the Central Design Bureau of Marine Engineering (TsKB MT) "Rubin" developed a new version patrol ship "Guardian", in which it was successfully managed to combine the advantages of both a surface ship and submarines. What will a submersible ship be capable of?
So, the new version of the Sentinel submersible ship differs from the version developed in 2021 in increased dimensions. So the second version will have a length of 72 meters and a displacement of 1300 tons.
By increasing the volume, engineers will be able to equip the ship with more functionality, and the more powerful power plant used in the second version will allow the ship to reach maximum speed at 21 knots.
In addition, the ship will be provided with special sealed multifunctional boxes that are suitable for storing boats, the necessary weapons for inspection teams, drones, etc.
Also, the ship will be equipped with all the necessary radar equipment to detect both surface and underwater targets.
And the maximum range of the ship at a cruising speed of 10 knots will be almost 4,000 miles, and if necessary, this parameter can also be increased.
As representatives of Rubin emphasized, the ship they offer is multifunctional. At its core, this is a patrol ship, which in peacetime can patrol the border zone, as well as participate in naval exercises and training.
And if necessary, the "Guardian" will be a formidable combat unit capable of sneaking up unnoticed in a submerged position to almost any object and performing a wide range of tasks.
The company said that the ships of the "Guardian" type will be offered for export and depending on the wishes and requirements customers can go through a deep "setting" of all parameters and nodes to perform tasks at almost any point peace.
