Roskosmos has patented a method for delivering spacecraft to the ISS in just two hours

The Russian company Energia (part of Roskosmos) received a patent for a method that makes it possible deliver the spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS) in the shortest possible time of 120 minutes.

This became known from the message of the head of the ballistics department of the corporation R. Murtazina. So, according to the specialist, the patent was issued on November 12, 2021 and has already been recorded in the register of Russian state inventions.

So, according to the proposed method, after the spacecraft separates from the third steps and after two pulses are completed, it will have to be output to a coelliptical orbit.

At the moment when the ISS is observed from the spacecraft at an angle of 23 degrees above the horizon, the crew members in in manual mode, an impulse is carried out, which literally after only half a turn will deliver the spacecraft to the orbital stations.

At the same time, as reported by the corporation, the launch trajectory of the apparatus, when the first and second stages of the launch vehicle are operating, remains unchanged.

And already during the operation of the third stage, the system responsible for control gradually changes position of the rocket and brings it to a new inclination, which is only 0.02-0.03 degrees different from inclination of the ISS.

The development of this system for approaching the ISS will most likely be started this summer during the launch of the Progress MS cargo spacecraft.

I would like to remind you that back in December 2018, the Director General of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin promised that astronauts and tourists would be delivered to the ISS faster than the passengers of the Moscow flight - Brussels.

Well, promises are beginning to be fulfilled, and the delivery of cargo and crew to the ISS in a couple of hours has become more than real. It remains to wait for the first such flight in reality, and after that we can say with confidence that all this works fine.
