Great idea to make cylinders with a screwdriver and router
The task of making cylindrical parts from wood is not so rare. There are many ways to solve: a lathe, devices for a circular saw, devices for a milling cutter, a device from a chisel and a drill, and others.
I came across a rather curious way to make cylinders with a screwdriver and an edge router.
I came across a similar idea to make cylinders using a milling cutter before, but I liked this particular implementation with several, in my opinion, very interesting solutions.
First - the use of an edge router, which makes the device more compact.
Second - interchangeable blocks for adaptation made to different diameters.
Third - original clamping of workpieces in a screwdriver. Double cam, which can clamp workpieces in a wide range of sizes.
Such a clamp, it seems to me, can also serve as a homemade chuck for a lathe.
Interchangeable blocks for different diameters of cylinders, as can be seen from the photo, they are made of two parts. The input part for the workpiece is expanded under the cone.
I can assume that this cone was made on a lathe, then the hole was drilled using wood crowns.
These blocks can also be made in a slightly different way, for example, made from plywood. Drill the outlet hole also with crowns, and pass the inlet under the cone with a cone cutter with a bearing. Surely there are other ways to make it.
The method of grinding such cylinders is shown quite simply: a plank with a triangular notch, which serves as a guide and support for the cylinder during grinding.
So it turns out that here you can find some interesting ideas for solving various problems when working with a tree.
