"Quick and easy"
Plastic bottles have long become a free and necessary household material. They make useful items in the household, cut them into ropes, weave baskets and much more. Today we will consider several options for how to make a bottle cutter to cut bottles into ribbons.
Option one
For work we need:
- knife blade;
- A piece of board with a thickness of 2-3 cm and a side size of about 15-20 cm.
- 2 bolts with a section of 6 mm. 2 nuts and some washers. The washers will adjust the height of the knife in accordance with the required thickness.
Drill two holes in the board. The distance between the holes must be such that the tape to be cut can pass between the put on washers. Therefore, having drilled the first hole, a washer is attached to it, and a second washer is placed next to it so that there is a minimum gap between them, and a point for drilling the second holes.
We drill a second hole, then from the bottom side of the board with a 10 mm drill we deepen each hole.
This is necessary for the stability of our board, so that the heads of the pucks hide inside and, if possible, are flush with the surface of the board.
We insert the bolts. Throw pucks on top.
The knife is inserted between the washers to the height required for the thickness of the tape. The edge of the knife is directed inward, towards the bolts. On the same board, you need to insert a bottle holder rod. The height of the holder must be at least 25 cm. A hole with a diameter of 5 mm is drilled in the corner. The diameter will depend on the size of the selected material.
And a rod is inserted into it. This may be an unnecessary electrode, a piece of steel wire 5-6 mm, rigid and durable.
If it is expected to be used frequently and there is a workbench, then you can bolt it to the workbench. You can always unscrew the bolts, remove the bottle cutter and do other work on the workbench.
Before starting work, it is necessary to cut off the bottom of the bottle, cut the tape with a thickness less than the thickness of the main tape and push this piece between the washers.
Holding the bottle with your hand, pull the tape through the knife, and it will be cut into a thin ribbon.
To make such a machine, it will take no more than 10 minutes. The bottle on it is cut in half a minute. A thinner tape may take up to a minute, no more.
Second option
If the first bottle cutter can be called a miniature machine, then this one is a simple "tool". In order to make it, you will need a piece of a plastic window corner from those that decorate the slopes. We bend the corner like a book, make a slot in it, into which we insert the knife.
On this tool, you can make several such cuts and cut tapes of different thicknesses.
To make it more convenient to work, you need to make a support for the bottle. As a support, I suggest using a stand board and a rod on which the bottle will be put on. Approximately, as in the first case.
