The opportunity to get a spacious kitchen-living room can seduce, probably, anyone. After all, such a large room is more comfortable, roomy, and modern. It’s just that it’s not so easy to correctly connect completely different spaces!

Good afternoon dear friends!

It would seem that what could be difficult in furnishing and decorating a kitchen-living room? Yes, a lot! After all, before its arrangement it is necessary to think over everything to the smallest detail. Starting from the development of a common style and a single concept, and ending with a way to divide a single space into a living room and a kitchen area. At the same time, it should be understood that in the latter case there are plenty of nuances!

And in order to prove this fact to you, and also to help in choosing the best option for zoning the space of the kitchen-living room, I prepared this material.

1.Use color. With a small area of \u200b\u200bthe room, the best option for combining individual parts of the kitchen-living room is to use the same color. They decorate the walls, the facade of the headset, as well as any physical barrier (wall, peninsula, bar counter ...) that separates the functional areas. So you can create a holistic appearance of the entire room, while the partition will not be too noticeable.

But you can mark the beginning of the living area with a compact sofa or bench. They are more suitable for a small room than a sofa, and all thanks to their size - they look neat and not bulky.

2.Install a kitchen island. At the same time, keep in mind that a separate island is installed in large (more than 15 sq. meters) kitchen-living rooms of a square or almost square shape. It is located on the border of zones, thereby dividing the territory according to its purpose. It allows you to make the transition between them smoother, hiding some kitchen activities and creating an additional cabinet to store all sorts of accessories.

By the way, the island does not have to be decorated in the color of the headset. For it can become a chip, an interior decoration.

3.Apply panoramic wallpaper. Did you know that with the help of wallpaper you can also create a transition between the kitchen and the living room? Not? No problem! I propose to emphasize with them the dining area, which is often located at the junction of two parts of the room. At the same time, not just wallpaper, but panoramic wallpaper. For only they can simultaneously create a bright accent, and due to the prospect, slightly expand the size of the room.

However, you can choose any other print: geometric, abstract, floral... The main thing is that it is 100% consistent with your design idea.

4.Place a decorative partition. By the way, completely abandoning the partition is not always a good idea. After all, thanks to her, you can complete the arrangement of the combined room, make it a more harmonious and thoughtful space. It all depends on the decision - it can be modest, barely marking the border between the living room and the kitchen, or vice versa, quite long, interrupted only by a narrow passage.

At the same time, it can be carved, perforated or in the form of a translucent design, which allows you to save space and slightly hide the kitchen views.

5.Play with floor materials. Another good way to delimit space can be the use of different floor materials. And all why? Yes, because it allows you to designate very clear functional boundaries. Moreover, this technique can also be used as an independent way of “connecting” spatial zones. And additional where the main zoning is made by a partition, an island or a bar counter.

Along with this, the transition between materials can be made sharp (rectilinear) or gradual (curvilinear). The first is more often used on a long line of contact between floor coverings, the second - in narrow aisles between furniture.

6.Set up a kitchen bench. Harmoniously combine the kitchen and living room, as well as provide zoning of different parts of the room, allows a long bench located in the dining area. Moreover, if you have already installed an island or a partition, then it is better to put this piece of furniture with its back to them. If the kitchen is not separated from the living room, then it is better to turn the bench with its back to the living room. Thus, it will act as the main separating element.

In addition, the bench turns out to be much more convenient if you have a little more guests than planned. You do not have to run around the neighbors and look for an extra chair or stool.
