A trick that will help you easily and simply replace the wiring in the ceiling
When repairing, situations often arise when it is necessary to quickly change the wiring in the ceiling. How to do it right, without making special efforts, without disassembling the ceiling, and most importantly, spending a minimum of time? I'll tell you a little trick on how to change the wiring in the ceiling.
What do we need
For work you will need:
- new lighting wire;
- a hammer;
- screwdriver or pry bar (to expand the entrance on the ceiling);
- knife or cutter;
- pliers;
- insulating tape.
In order to expand the entrance on the ceiling, in addition to a hammer, a screwdriver, a metal pin or a mount may be required. And yes, for the future - putty, which will cover the entry and exit points.
Beginning of work
Before starting work, be sure to de-energize the room. Even if you are only going to do markup for now and will not change anything.
First of all, we look at where the entrance to the stove is located. You can navigate by the exit of the wire from the stove (where the chandelier hangs) to the visible edge of the stove. We measure this distance. We got 35 cm.
In the same way, we now measure the same distance from this edge of the plate. If the edge of the slab is not visible, you can measure from the ceiling to the exit point of the lighting wire. We got the same 35 cm. Wiring is always in a straight line.
If this entrance is not visible, in this place we break part of the ceiling and bring out the wire. If there are a lot of them, you need to figure out where they come from and what they are. Because there should be only one lighting wire. We pull out the wire from the place where the chandelier is attached, move it a little to find out which wire brings the lighting.
We change the wiring
We remove the old lamp. Cut off the wire with pliers or a knife. We break the attachment point with a screwdriver and a hammer. Or use other tools.
We mark how long the new wiring should be. This is the distance between the entry and exit points, plus a small margin so that you can safely fix the lamp and, if necessary, connect the wire to another if we change the wiring further.
Carefully cut off the old cable and connect it to the new wiring. We fasten well with tape.
Now on the other side we are looking for the same wire. Grab it with pliers and pull it out. You can cut it off first, for convenience. We pull out the new wire to the electrical tape. Do not forget to leave a small piece in order to secure the lamp.
We remove the other wires back. After a complete replacement of the wiring, it is necessary to putty all the holes.
To make a broach along the ceiling in my way, you do not need to break the entire ceiling, or look for additional wire, as many do. The main thing is to find and break small holes so that it is convenient to get the wires
