A familiar master suggested a trick
Over time, gaps may form between the boards. There may be several reasons - prolonged operation, incorrect temperature and humidity conditions, as well as simply crooked hands of the master, defective boards. The reason in this case is not important, the fact remains - cracks have formed. Today I will show you an easy way to fix cracks and gaps in laminate flooring.
What do we need
To correct an error in our floor, you will need:
- dust removal materials;
- a piece of plywood with a smooth edge;
- a hammer;
- mount.
The main thing is that the lamellas are not glued together, as some unfortunate masters often do. In this case, you will have to use other methods.
Process
First of all, it is necessary to clean the cracks formed, remove dust and debris from it. This can be done either with a vacuum cleaner, or simply with your hands - with a soft damp cloth, whisk, sponge.
I was “lucky” that one board had gaps on both sides. First, remove the first gap. With flat plywood with a smooth edge, we rest against the end of the laminate board on the other side, at an angle of about 45 degrees. In this case, the plywood should be slightly smaller than the gap itself. In this case, I had to saw it off to the right size. And gently, with a hammer, tap the board.
Where I tapped, the gap increased. But on the other hand, he completely disappeared.
Further, according to the same principle, we move the laminate one by one, in length, moving towards the wall. If you can’t insert plywood into the slot, since it is small, we use a mount. If the distance from the wall is small, you can immediately use the mount by moving several slats at the same time. Before these steps, do not forget to remove the plinth.
Result
I got it right the first time. The gap disappeared almost before our eyes. At the same time, I did not work with the bent part of the mount, but almost even. And it didn't take much force.
Of course, the same gap remained near the wall, which was, only in the middle of the room.
But, firstly, it will not be visible under the plinth, and secondly, it is precisely such gaps that many craftsmen leave, calling them “temperature”. They make it possible to "play" the laminate with expansions, with changes in temperature or moisture in the room.
My perfect laminate floor is ready. There are no more visible gaps, everything is smooth and perfect. I hope my advice will work in your case if you encounter such a problem.
