Tried many different ways how to screw a self-tapping screw into the "inappropriate" hole. But I didn't find anything better than these tricks.
Very often, craftsmen during repairs are faced with such a problem when the diameter of the already done old the hole does not match the diameter of the self-tapping screw, and it literally dangles - the design can no longer be called reliable and strong.
I want to share with you my unusual and often used method of tightening self-tapping screws. The hole can be in wood, concrete, brick, stone, etc.
I think you have tried the match and toothpick method more than once. Without a doubt, this method also takes place, but such fasteners will not last long on actively used products. In such a case, I want to suggest that you try three different ways of tightening self-tapping screws using a heat gun. To do this, you only need a few sticks of hot melt adhesive and your desire to experiment.
Below are three ways to tighten a screw for holes of different diameters.
First way:
This method is the easiest, suitable for small holes. For him, we need only one medium dowel. Pour hot melt adhesive into the finished hole and stick the dowel inside.
We are waiting for everything to dry. Cut off excess glue with a clerical knife.
We screw the screw with a screwdriver and you're done.
Second way:
The next method is suitable for large holes. We take a large dowel and hammer it firmly into the hole with a hammer. We fill the space inside with hot-melt adhesive and, without waiting for the glue to dry, slowly screw in the self-tapping screw with a screwdriver. Let's dry.
Third way:
And now consider the case when the dowel does not fit into the hole at all. This last method is suitable for the smallest holes. To do this, we need a small screw that will hang out a little. Pour hot glue into the hole. We push the self-tapping screw inside. You can use a screwdriver.
We are waiting for the glue to dry. Cut off the excess glue and you're done.
There are situations when you need to screw a screw into a broken hole, for example, in a tile. In this case, I am sure that this method with a thermal gun will certainly help you out. Finding a way out is not difficult, the main thing is to use ingenuity and a little skill. Good luck with your projects!
