August is in full swing: how to speed up the ripening of tomatoes
In August, summer residents and gardeners begin to harvest vegetables, including tomatoes. I want to eat delicious and sugary tomatoes from my bush, and not ripen green tomatoes indoors. To speed up the ripening of tomatoes, you can use the following methods recommended by well-known bloggers and expert agronomists.
Pruning leaves and tops of bushes
I remove the leaves gradually on the bushes, since they play a big role in photosynthesis and the accumulation of plastic substances in the plant. I cut my stepchildren in a timely manner. In August, I cut off the tops of tomato bushes so that the existing fruits on the plant ripen faster, the green mass does not grow, and new fruits do not set that simply do not have time to ripen in the fall.
Fertilization
Phosphorus-potassium fertilizing contributes to the rapid ripening of fruits. One of the gardeners' favorite fertilizers available is ash. It contains all the necessary micro and macro elements, except for nitrogen, helps to quickly get ripe tomatoes. To make the necessary solution for feeding, you need to dilute a glass of the substance in a bucket of water. Wait 2 hours and pour the bushes under the root with the resulting extract.
If you have little ash, then potassium monophosphate fertilizer will be a good alternative to it. It dissolves well in water, contains compounds of phosphorus and potassium. It is enough to dilute one tablespoon in a bucket of water per 10 liters and pour each bush under the root at the rate of 0.5 liters per plant.
Arrangement of ripe apples in the garden
Early varieties of apples ripen in August. I put them on the bed in the greenhouse in small containers. The essence of this method lies in the fact that apples emit ethylene gas, which accelerates the ripening of fruits.
