How to connect aluminum + copper? Old-fashioned method of connecting wires (from the USSR). Safe and secure
Greetings to all! Today I will show you a way to connect copper and aluminum wires in an old but proven way. I consider it reliable, safe and does not require special budget costs. If there is such a need, join!
Let's prepare everything you need:
π© Bolt m6 under 10 key;
π© Key for 10;
π© Washers - 3 pcs;
π© Multi-wire copper wire;
π© Single-core aluminum wire;
π© Solder for soldering;
π© Soldering iron;
π© Pliers;
π© Grover for the size of the bolt - 2 pcs;
π© Nut - 1 pc.
And so, let's get started!
The main principle of our work is to isolate copper and aluminum from each other through metal connections. In this case, the connection will be through a threaded bolt.
1. We take 2 wires: aluminum and copper. The length is arbitrary.
We clean the wires from insulation. Approximately 3-5 cm.
2. The copper wire must be tinned. Heat up the soldering iron. We dip the sting in solder and service the bare part of the wiring.
3. In order for the wires to be held on the bolt, it is necessary to make loops on both wires, as shown in the photo. Bend the ends with pliers.
4. Now, unwinding the base, remove the loops from the bolt and proceed directly to the assembly
Assembly. Subsequence
β Grover β washer β copper wire β
β Next β a washer that will separate the wires β
β Aluminum wire β washer β grover β
β Tighten the nut from above.
This is such an interesting build.
It remains for us to make a coupler of wires with a key of 10. Tighten until until the growers straighten up.
With all its advantages, there is still one drawback to this old method. As you can see, the device is quite capacious. And if you consider that your bolt may be larger and that this structure needs to be insulated, then this miracle device will take up a lot of space.
π© By the way! Do not hide such a connection! It is necessary that this design be visible and accessible for repair!
