Features of the private houses in Poland and why the city drowning in smog
Recently I returned from a fascinating journey through the cities of Poland. Most tourists visit different countries to learn something new about a culture with a long history of building. For me it is much more interesting to show the opportunity to get acquainted with the everyday life of Poles, and especially with the way they build their homes.
A bit of history
Why am I so interested in a house in Poland? They are very different from those we are used to seeing in Russia and Ukraine, in the first place externally. After talking with the local people of the older generation, I learned how to form a style of construction:
● In the days of the Commonwealth they were ordinary wooden house.
● After the First World War there was a reorientation in the houses there were toilets and bathrooms, and the tree was changed to stone.
● After the Second World War, the construction style implies the presence in the homes basement. They are recessed into the ground, there is a garage and a summer kitchen. Also for houses built at this time, it is characterized by the presence of several kitchens on various floors, because at that time lived in the same house for several generations, and some rented.
Modern private homes have very different: if earlier design was very simple and minimalistic, the complex solutions in use today. The house is very spacious with a large lounge and living room, the facades have a complex structure, which clearly fascinated me as a person, not accustomed to such fanciful designs.
Finishing is also not such as to which we are accustomed: Poles plastered walls and roofs are covered with tiles: natural, cement-sand or metal.
Drowning in smog
Surprised private houses not only their own projects, but also heating. In fact, come to Poland in the winter - not the best solution, because all of the city are in the smoke in the cold season. This is because a very large number of citizens do not heat their homes with gas and stoves using coal, and this applies not only to private homes, but also the apartment. Of course, this has a negative impact on human health, but until this problem can not be solved: to heat a house with electricity is twice as expensive as gas there is simply not performed.
Overall, the trip to Poland has stood fascinating and informative, and the design of private homes I liked it so much that I would like to live in that. And you would be living in such a house?
