Rosselkhoznadzor has published a list of the major diseases of tomatoes and how to treat them. Patients tomatoes - a sign of not enough good farming practices: gardeners grow a small set of crops and crop rotation is very often neglected. In addition, not everyone knows about modern methods of treatment of diseases of tomatoes. We have collected this information in the six cards that describe:

  • How to treat "blackleg"
  • How to treat the brown spotting
  • How to treat late blight
  • How to treat apical rot

2. Tomatoes begin to bloom and bear fruit - and then on the lower leaves appear strange, fuzzy, pale yellow spots. So something like do not look scared, or is it dangerous? Do I have to do something about it?

These spots indicate the beginning brown spot. Check the underside of the leaf, there will be a gray patina, it's fungal spores. Very soon all the leaves of tomatoes, other than the uppermost become brown, twist in cigars will dry up and hanged. If nothing is done, the plant will die.

Favorable conditions for the development of brown spot:

  • high humidity;
  • a sharp change in temperature from cold to +20 and above.

Especially quickly brown spot develops in the greenhouses.
Rosselkhoznadzor experts recommend to ventilate the greenhouse more often, the humidity was kept at the level of 60-70%, and all will be well! Remove the lower leaves and practice crop rotation.

3. On the leaves and fruits of some brown spots, they are right in front crawl. It is late blight? All tomatoes are not saved?

Yes, your tomato late blight. His signs:

  • sprawling brown spots on the fruit;
  • the same spots on the stems and leaves, plus the white coating spores;
  • on a green fruit brown spots, subcutaneous;
  • fruits first hard as rocks, and then again become soft.

At the first sign of disease remove and destroy diseased plants per plot boundaries bury or burn. The remaining tomatoes Spray 1% -bordoskoy liquid. If the year is wet, try sprinkling a few times at intervals of 10 to 12 days. Continue to plant the tomatoes as possible from the potato.

4. Some strange sunken spots on the tops of the fruit. What it is?

This apical rot. Soon these stains soften and begin to rot. Most likely, they will not have time to ripen and fall off. It is better to remove these plants, so they do not infect others. Rosselkhoznadzor experts recommend to keep the soil: apical rot develops on saline soils, as well as on soils in which too little (or too much) of calcium. If you regularly make a phosphorus-potassium fertilizer, tomatoes are resistant to the pathogen apical rot.

5. And you can do something to not hurt tomato fungal diseases?

You can and should be.

  • Crop rotation is very important: to not hurt tomato apical rot and other fungal diseases, they do not put in the same place earlier than three years.
  • In the autumn digging the soil is recommended deep.
  • Before sowing the seeds are not too lazy to treat the 1% solution of potassium permanganate (to soak the seeds for 24 hours, then dried).

And most importantly, always ventilate the greenhouse!

6. This is all understandable though, if tomato fruits are right over wood is that?

It stolbur - contagious and very dangerous viral disease. Tomatoes suffer them in a very hot summer. It begins with the fact that the tip of the stem turns pink, the leaves take the purple and folded around the main vein. Sepals fused together, deformed pestle, stamens of flowers dry out. Fruits do become "wooden" inedible. Usually the beds infested with this disease, losing up to 40% of the crop.

Important: the causative agent of the disease is not transmitted through seeds!

Autumn, dry tops of tomato pathogen dies, but lives on perennial weeds:

  • field bindweed,
  • dodder;
  • thistle;
  • chicory;
  • spurge.

A virus with weeds to tomatoes tolerate insects.

To protect planting tomatoes from stolbur, try to plant the seedlings in the greenhouse early and remove perennial weeds, especially bindweed.
