An unusual reaction to stain nitro lacquer.
About 20 years ago from the materials at hand, I did a small coffee table. Available was a few polished planks of the old furniture, which had planned to place one above the other and staple curly side pillars.
For side posts I found two pruning birch boards. Use the jigsaw gave them the desired shape, polished and decided to paint in red-brown color because as a plate were the same color and then varnished.
Used for painting or potassium permanganate solution in water, or a solution of iodine... I do not remember exactly, probably all the same potassium permanganate. I got a color very similar to the color of these planks. Next, I had a nail NC and I began to paint them with these sidewall ...
Imagine my surprise when when spraying the surface of the red-brown was black with a greenish tinge. At first I was quite taken aback, but since these sidewalls replace me at that time was not, he decided to leave them dokrasit and black.
Why it happened I do not know. Maybe not dosushit stain or wood species affected (although it should not), Or something with a varnish was not.
Somebody faced with similar?
