Proper handling of the ends of a log house! Protection against cracking.

To your log cabin served for long years, you need to take care of him. And not just in the construction phase, but also to carry out preventive work throughout the entire period of operation. Today I want to tell you about the proper ends processing technology carcass and all its stages. What is important is the order of the work and you chose for that material.

After assembling the log, in case the frame is going on construction site, aligns the ends of the log (trimming). If the frame is going first to the production site, the process is the facing after the first assembly on site. This is the first stage of the work.

Important: Hold steady trimming a chainsaw is quite difficult! This process is certainly better to entrust to anyone with an instrument in good and long relationship.

Once the ends are aligned, begins the second stage of work - grinding end sections. the grinding process is carried out in several stages. First ends processed coarser grit, then gradually move to finer abrasives. ends grinding produce a belt sander or angle grinders (angle grinder Machine) - "grinder" (preferably with adjustable speed) using abrasive flap circles. But grinder must be able to work! By this I do not advise to those who first decided to do grinding, pitch in LBM. At high speeds, easy enough to remove several millimeters.

Important: Grinding log ends must be made only on the dry surface logs ends (preferably in dry conditions). In the case of the present phase of the wet surface will be formed at the ends of the pile.

The third stage of work is the application of the protective structure on the ends of the carcass or the impregnation! The composition, which was impregnated with the ends serves to preserve and protect the wood from rotting, exposure to rain or insects, with uneven shrinkage cracking and shrinkage of the framework. The composition applied by brush, preferably 100-120 mm, for convenience of drawing. Work on the ends of the impregnation log necessarily should be done only in good weather and on a dry surface.

Important: The composition is applied in multiple layers (2-3 layers), abundantly and covering the entire surface of the log end with a continuous layer. Thus the composition thoroughly absorbed and impregnation process is carried out correctly and efficiently.

The fourth and fifth stage of the work must be done after the shrinkage of a log house!

The fourth stage of the work of processing the ends of a log house is applying a protective sealant layer. This stage of the protection for years to come face saw cut from moisture! Most often, the following compositions are used: Zobel, Kordin WV456.

The fifth stage of the work - the finish! ends processing log oil. Now there are already a lot of good eco-friendly compounds, like oils and waxes for wood processing. Many compositions tintable in desired color. We often use the company OSMO compositions.
