Good afternoon dear friends!
Do you have a desire to bring a "tasty" colors in the interior, to supplement it with bright touches and accents, and indeed "revive" and create a cozy atmosphere in the house?! A family budget does not allow to allocate substantial funds for the purchase of new furniture, lighting, decorative elements and accessories... It does not matter!
Let us take one of the many design techniques and add to the interior colorful textiles - yellow pillow, blue curtains, a green tablecloth etc. It is relatively inexpensive, but effectively and efficiently! And to save even more paint the textiles yourself using only natural dyes, as our ancestors did! And so, today I let you in the secret of coloring textiles without the use of any artificial dyes.
I am sure! You are already familiar with henna (eg, hair color), but in fact there are many other plants that may act as a source of endless shades and colors - onion, thyme, beets, blueberries, avocado and...
1.the cloth. First we need to understand: "What kind of fabric is suitable to us?" It is best to use natural, namely - cotton, linen, wool or by clicking. Since synthetic textiles during its production passes certain stages of the chemical processing, and as a result there is no guarantee that the natural pigment in place on the fibers of a tissue 100. However, if you want to experiment and synthetic paint, try it, but only on a small piece of matter.
Before staining textiles should be washed with mild soap and water to get rid of priming and to prepare the fibers to dye fabric. But this "washing" is not enough, because the need to be still and to eradicate it by soaking in a bowl of water and alum (30% of the weight of the fabric). Boil the fabric necessary for one hour (80 degrees), then let it cool down, rinse and dry. If you do not have alum, it does not matter, soak the cloth and leave for half a day in a container with water and white vinegar.
2.organic pigment. To make a natural dye, you will need leaves, flowers, roots and bark of certain plants. For example, to get shades of red Use the peel red onion, hibiscus flowers or madder. Pink and purple - blueberry petals. By the way, blueberries can give and blue tintIf you add a mixture of ash, as well as for use blackberry blue and lavender flowers. Want to yellowThen saffron, St. John's, sunflower, artichoke and turmeric. prefer greenWithout question - thyme, ferns or spinach. Would you like to paint textiles in beige or brown, use juniper, chestnut and maple.
Keep in mind that when you use flowers, petals or root of a plant pigment color will be different. And yet, be careful and make sure that the plants you have selected is not toxic, especially when heated!
3.dyeing. Well, you have decided on the fabric and color. It's time to begin the "magic" of the process, which will require from you a little bit of patience. Since you first need to do the dye itself! Nothing complicated, just a place chosen by you plant in a container with water, boil it for 1 hour, then filter the "broth" and let it cool. The resulting mixture pour in a large container, place it on the fire and soak the fabric. Do not forget to mix it well with a wooden spoon when "cooking" to dye evenly entrenched in the fabric fibers, and you get the desired color.
Left turn off the heat, let cool cloth, wash it with clean water and hang to dry. Actually EVERYTHING!
