How to remove a broken wall tile and stick a new

Step 1: Replacing a damaged tile

Remove the grout from all edges of the broken tiles (image

1). Check for electrical wiring or water pipes with a detector.

To loosen the tiles, drill a few holes in it (picture 2).

Use a hammer and chisel to remove pieces of broken tile. Do not forget to wear gloves and eye protection (Figure 3). Apply the adhesive on the back of the tile with a toothed trowel (figure 4).

Place the tile, making sure that it sits flush. Use spacers to distance the seams were the same. Once the glue is dry, remove the spacers and apply grout (figure 5).

The use of broken tiles

Before you get rid of the tile pieces, look at some other options. Broken tile can be used for decorative mosaic elements in your home. Mosaic can decorate flower pots, picture frames, and use as part of the flooring. Seal the joints using a spatula (Figure 3).

In places where the solution is deteriorated in terms of color, but not the structure, a small amount of solution will help to restore the pure, bright colors.

Thoroughly clean the surface with a sponge trowel, and (figure 1).

When the solution dries, apply a grout solution (figure 2). Read the description on the packaging to find out how long to wipe the excess solution. Use a damp cloth (Figure 3).

Apply sealant over the entire length of the seam, try to push deeper into the gap and smooth with wet fingers (Figure 3) .Remove tape and flatten again, if necessary.

Step 5: Remove the damaged drywall in the shower

If the water seeps through the tiles, it can damage drywall, tile begins to stagger. In this case, you need to remove the damaged parts of the wall, and repair if necessary.

Remove all the cabin wall or shower curtain before you start, so to have full access to the tile (figure 1).

Use a scraper to remove tiles (image 2).

Cut out the damaged section of drywall. Be careful not to cut into hidden wiring or plumbing (Figure 3).

Try not to damage the frame (image 4).

Pull all the nails and screws (figure 5). Dry the inner space. Special hair dryer can speed this process.

Step 6: Replace the drywall in the shower

Cut a piece of water-resistant drywall on the size of the holes and secure it to the old frame (image 1) After that, you need to fluff around the edges of the board all the cracks with sealant (image 2).

At the junction between the old and new wall must pokleit reinforced tape (Figure 3).

Apply tile adhesive on the tiles and the wall, attach the tile powertrowel. Repeatedly apply the sealant in the angular joints (figure 4).

Step 7: To prevent the infiltration of water

In most cases, the leakage of water in the shower take place due to bad smeary tile joints, or because they are old sealant in the joints.

The gradual penetration of water can damage the wall or cause the tiles that will start otpadyvat.

The situation could deteriorate rapidly if it goes unnoticed, so check these areas regularly for damage or dampness. If you find any problems, solve them immediately, using the methods shown above.
