Abandoned cottages in Bashkiria: why did people abandon everything and leave?
Huge expensive houses are empty, not needed by their owners. One gets the feeling that people simply had nowhere to put their money, and they invested 5-6 million in land and the construction of cottages that they do not use.
With such feelings, I returned from two trips to Bashkiria (summer and winter), where literally a couple of tens of kilometers from the capital I saw a village with a hundred abandoned houses.
I am publishing photos of empty mansions, and at the end of the article - an explanation from a local resident why they were empty.
This house was abandoned at the construction stage. In the background, a white house is visible - they even managed to install an air conditioner in it, but it is empty too. The people in the photo are my fellow travelers.
This luxurious cottage was also left without owners - they didn't even have time to insert the windows
And this is a photo from a summer trip - a person invested, installed windows, a good door, even installed aerators for ventilation of the under-roof space. But he does not live in the house.
When I saw this house, at first I thought that it was residential: everything seemed to be done. But the approaches to the house are overgrown with weeds, and there are no curtains or light in the windows - the house is also empty.
Finally, I met a local resident who, because I treated him to a cigarette, told the story of these houses.
It turned out that all these houses were built by local oilmen from Bashneft - there was no money to eat. And then, when the company was bought out by Rosneft, many were transferred to work in Moscow. They offered good conditions, and the guys boldly abandoned their cottages and drove off to the capital.
Now more than half of the village is empty. Here's a life story.
