Why do chickens need Styrofoam and why do they like it so much?
There are actually four reasons, and all of them are not encouraging:
- lack of salt - due to a lack of salts in the body, chickens literally pounce on polystyrene, and birds really need salts to lay eggs.
- curiosity - chickens are just very interested in what kind of white balls.
- error - chickens take styrofoam for crumbs of lime that their body needs;
- dependence - because of the pentane gas, the chickens cannot stop pecking on the foam granules - it is addictive.
