The story of a friend who lived for 5 years in a garage built by his own hands in Moscow

Start of construction

At the initial stage, for a ridiculous amount of 120 thousand rubles, my friend bought an old garage 20 minutes from his work. Initially, the garage looked like an unremarkable building:

Since it is impossible to build housing on the basis of such a garage, Kolya (that is the name of a friend) quickly demolished it. He prudently preserved the iron, brought in the sand (photo 2), leveled it (photo 3) for the next stage. By the way, in the fourth photo - just him).

Nikolay built his first home in Moscow from a sea container and a cabins, which he could buy for a cheap price on Avito.

I think now it is worth telling how life was inside such a house in the garage. And I must admit, life there was no worse than in a tiny studio apartment:

But what about communication?

Kolya's communications issue was helped by Russian folk ingenuity and having his own car (you saw his Toyota on the top photo).

• Water supply: once a week Kolya collected 7 19-liter canisters of water at work and brought them into the house - for washing dishes and bathing in the shower. Water is pumped into the tank in the upper part of the shower room with the help of a suburban pump-trowel (cm. photo below), and hot water is heated on a gas stove.

• Wastewater disposal: During the summer, the water from the shower and washbasin was flushed into a large 50-liter oil drum. In winter, in a small 30 liter canister with a screw cap. There was no need to drain water outside.

• power supply: in the garage cooperative, they allocated 5 kW of electricity, which was always enough for Kolya to charge a laptop. In case of interruptions, he bought two devices: an uninterruptible power supply with a 100 Ah battery and a gasoline generator (installed on the roof of a neighboring garage).

I asked:Kolya, what is the most epic incident in 5 years of your life in the garage do you remember?

He replied: One morning I saw a bunch of police and got scared, but it turned out that the filmmakers came to shoot the series in the garage cooperative where I lived. The rest of the house worked like a clock, just know the gas cylinders in the winter, change and bring new water.
