How do beekeepers fight hornets, and why is this method useful for all gardeners?
Friends, many of us, summer residents and gardeners, do not even know the difference between a hornet and a bee, although hornets are a real evil for professional beekeepers. Hornets are larger relatives of wasps that grow up to 5.5 cm in length. And the worst thing is that the basis of their diet is honey bees.
And here lies the conflict of interests between gardeners and hornets! Workers-bees are a real friend of the summer resident - in the spring they actively pollinate fruit trees, plants and flowers in flower beds. In many ways, it is the bees that we owe a good ovary and subsequently a harvest.
And hornets eat bees - they hunt both old and young individuals.
Therefore, every gardener is interested in exterminating hornets in their area - let's tell you a great way to do this!
How to get rid of hornets?
The recipe for this trap was taught to me by professional beekeepers.
A plastic bottle is placed on the site, its cut neck is lowered inward. Half of the bottle is filled with mead or a mixture of warm water and old honey (the main thing is that the mixture should ferment from the sun).
Greedy hornets rush into the bottle and drown in the viscous mead. If there is such a bait on the site, the hornets stop catching bees.
Bees pollinate your plants, and you enjoy a big harvest!
