It is necessary to solder, and the flux is over. These 3 rosin substitutes are found in every home
Hello, friends.
I prefer to use factory soldering fluxes, which I advise you to do. But a couple of times there were cases when the flux was not at hand. Because of this, do not postpone the case. I tell you how to make a flux from improvised means - 3 recipes. Unlike rosin, they can be used to solder not only copper. I am sure that at least once in your life this information will be useful to you.
What to make
Perhaps not everyone still knows, but the raw materials for the preparation of flux are in the kitchen or in the medicine cabinet of every housewife. We need: regular lemon, citric acid or aspirin. Each of the substances is an independent flux.
Recently, the use of all kinds of additives in medicines has become fashionable. Aspirin for our purposes needs the most common (acetylsalicylic acid) - without impurities and flavorings.
Preparation
Squeeze lemon juice - the flux is ready. We apply it to the surface and tin the metal.
Lemon and aspirin can be used in pure form only if you need to tin the wire or solder the contact to a large surface. We crush the pill, sprinkle the contact and tinker. But if you have to solder the board, things are a little more complicated.
It is inconvenient to apply the powder, so we prepare a solution. We boil water and add a little to the powder (aspirin or lemon). Minimum water. The main thing is for the powder to dissolve. Then it can be applied with a brush like a regular flux.
Application area
I was very pleased that such a flux can be used to solder not only copper, but also other metals. I have used it on brass, zinc, nickel and common ferrous metals. It was always interesting whether such an acidic flux would take a stainless steel. If you have experience, please tell us what else they can solder.
There is a limitation
We used what seemed to be the most innocuous components: lemon, edible citric acid, aspirin. Despite this, we received a rather aggressive acidic flux. It perfectly removes oxides and, like other acidic fluxes, requires rinsing.
This is because the acid conducts an electric current. To close the paths to her, like two fingers on the asphalt. In addition, oxides are actively formed without washing. I don't need any other arguments. We wash it off. Dot.
