How to scare away mosquitoes and ticks without chemicals and repellents
A simple remedy that allows you to scare off blood-sucking insects for a long time, you probably have in your first aid kit or in a bath, and we are not talking about dichlorvos and other repellents, which are no less harmful to humans than to insects.
This is about essential oils. Essentially, essential oil is sap squeezed out of leaves, needles, flowers or stems of aromatic plants. In addition to the fact that they contain phytoncides useful for humans, they also scare away mosquitoes with their pungent odor.
Four essential oils are best suited for this mission:
- swamp mint - no insects simply do not tolerate its smell;
- lavender - it is pleasant for humans, but too aromatic for mosquitoes and midges;
- lemongrass;
- eucalyptus.
Some people advise using fir oil, but it is too caustic and in contact with the eyes causes a strong burning sensation, why risk it?
How to choose an essential oil?
There are many "fragrances" that are not essential oils on store shelves. Read carefully into their composition, and you will see that this word is "aromatic fragrance". Such a perfume will not save mosquitoes.
You should look for natural oil squeezed in Siberian or southern regions. A small bottle of essential oil will hardly cost less than 60-70 rubles, but it will last for many months.
