Blew out another 30 liters of polyurethane foam from the "dead" cylinder

click fraud protection

The situation is as follows. I put several doors in the workshop. According to the tradition of the genre, the last door frame ran out of polyurethane foam. I would like to finish the work, but there are several weekends ahead, so the shops are closed. The nearest market is 40 km away. But in the granaries of the homeland there was a started foam cylinder (not under a pistol, therefore, consider it "dead"). We managed to revive it and finish the work.

The bottle is almost intact, but the valve is clogged.

Yes, I know that these tubes are disposable. Once I zapil, if there is anything left - to the trash. But somehow it happened: the balloon is large - 65 liters, and I used up no more than 5% of the volume. I don't even know what I was thinking when I left him. But in this case, he helped me out.

First I decided to reanimate the valve. I screw a black self-tapping screw into the hole (by hand). As soon as there is an effort, I pull it out. Remnants of frozen foam remain on the threads.

I slightly press the valve - it starts to poison the air. The trick was a success. You can work.

I cleaned the cylinder valve.

During the year that the foam was lying around the garage, the pipe with the "trigger" went towards the sea. I had to look for a substitute. There were no suitable pipes and hoses at hand. Another quest has begun.

I took an unusable felt-tip pen from my daughter. He took out all the guts. Clipped on one side, leaving a slight taper. The result is a "turbo" effect, as in factory-made polyurethane foam cylinders.

I made a tube for a cylinder with polyurethane foam from an old felt-tip pen.

This felt-tip tube was worn loosely on the balloon. To seal the joint, of course, I took electrical tape. It is a pity it was not at hand blue ;-) Made a couple of turns black.

The nozzle screwed up like a factory one.

He sealed the joint with electrical tape.

I will not say that it is convenient to use the foam in this form. But when you have no way out, you will not be so twisted. The main thing is that everything worked out. I installed the box. Judging by the weight, there is still somewhere about half of the cylinder (I think there are 30 liters). Do you think I threw out the bottle or not? ;)

The experiment was successful.

By the way, I do not recommend repeating this. I'm sure everyone has seen what experiments with polyurethane foam lead to.

Experiments with polyurethane foam are fraught with consequences.
