Why pipes for water and heating should be made of multilayer polypropylene?
Remember, every spring, and then autumn, plumbers knocked on our apartments with unenviable regularity and asked to inspect the heating pipes and, less often, the water supply. Construction technologies were then at a low level, and all had heavy and noisy steel or cast iron pipes that used to leak periodically.
Today, polymer production has leaped forward, and polypropylene pipes have appeared. And if you still install outdated metal pipes at home, you are completely behind the times...
This is why pipes must be plastic:
At first, plastic pipes have very low thermal conductivity, so the water on the route from the boiler room to the tap or shower in the apartment hardly cools down. This means that you do not overpay for the extra "drained" water. Moreover, condensation does not form on such pipes.
Secondly, the pipes are safe, and even in the event of an accident on the boiler, the pipes will withstand high temperatures up to 140 ⁰С.
Thirdly, the inner surface of the pipes is completely smooth (coefficient 0.05), therefore, plaque, remnants and small debris will never accumulate on it, which means that there will be no blockages. Now do you understand that plumbers can lose their jobs and are advised to put "hardware"?
Fourthly, the excellent sound insulation of these pipes dampens 90% of the noise of the pouring water.
Fifth, the service life of polypropylene pipes for hot water supply is 50 years, and for cold water supply pipes - 100 years. Enough for grandchildren...
And what kind of piping is done around your house / apartment?
Have you switched to plastic?
