Fastening of racks and crossbars. What can be completed after installing the roof.
In building a house with your own hands, the problem of lack of time constantly appears. Therefore, you have to postpone the secondary and do the urgent.
This is what I did when building my roof.
I already wrote, that at the stage of installing the rafter system, I realized that it was necessary to cover the roof as soon as possible. Therefore, I left all the elements that could be postponed for later.
Racks and crossbars were some of them.
More precisely, the parts themselves were installed, but hooked onto one self-tapping screw... And now, when the roof is covered, it's time to finish everything to the end.
Of course, there were no heavy snowfalls yet, but even a little snow seemed to me a threat, for my house (after all, my own ...). So I didn't want to put it off for a long time.
I decided to fix everything with studs and nails.
In the article, where I described the process of installing all the elements, many criticizedthat the rafters are connected to the uprights and crossbars overlap, and one fastening stud cannot cope with this.
β But I believe that with a sufficiently sharp roof, and small slopes, this is possible.
Well, and accordingly, everything is done simply and quickly.
- I drilled holes for the studs.
- Spun them up.
- And to calm the soul, he additionally pierced with nails, with a bend.
I do not know what the load is, can it break, given that the rafters themselves hold the main load ???
It was more difficult with the crossbars, only due to the fact that it was necessary to work at the top, and so did everything.
The next step is to secure the posts at the joint, with the floor joists.
And for this I also have an idea, to kill two birds with one stone.
- Make a secure fit.
- And strengthen the overlap.
But more on that in the following articles ...
