Measurement of openings for double-glazed windows. Minimum window size, gaps, and other things that I only learned in the process.
I always thought, why call a window measurer, if you can take the dimensions yourself and give it to work. It turns out there are some nuances in this "wait" work.
Opening geometry.
❗ No master likes to work after someone else, or finish what another started. So with measurements of the window.
Each opening has its own characteristics: presence, absence of quarters, evenness of edges and corners, etc. And of course, the one who will install the windows should take all this into account when measuring. Therefore, it is better to do it yourself.
But in my house I myself will do this work, so the services of a measurer are simply useless ...
But having delved into this matter, I learned new moments, which are not always spoken about:
Support profile. It must be taken into account when setting the final size of the frame itself.
That is, if on the sides you just need to subtract 4 cm from the size of the opening (a gap of 2 cm on each side), then you need to subtract 7 cm from the vertical measurement (4 for gaps + 3 cm - the height of the support profile).
Otherwise, you will not take into account, due to inexperience and ignorance, and everyone drank the opening.
The minimum window size. I thought there were no limits ...
But for a swing-out sash, the minimum is 500 x 500 mm. Less is only deaf.
I did not take this into account at the construction stage, now I will have to slightly expand the window in the bathroom.
After that, I waited for more surprises.
But I was saved by the fact that the person through whom I ordered the windows told me to just throw off the final dimensions of the openings, and he himself would deduct all unnecessary and order the required window sizes.
✅ So that the order is on the way... I hope he will come soon, although the situation with the current quarantines greatly slows down the process.
subscribe to the channel and like it 👍. Sooner or later, but the installation of windows awaits me, I think it will be interesting.
