Formwork for a septic tank. I thought I had made the most reliable structure, but again I miscalculated. I am telling you the nuances.

How to pour concrete at a depth of 1 meter, since the groundwater starts from half a meter? Another task that I had to solve during the construction of my house.

About my decision to make a septic tank from concrete, I already wrote in this article. Now, it's time to bring all my ideas to life.

The main question that had to be solved was how to pour concrete with a high level of groundwater.

And I decided to do all the work on the surface, not in the pit.

That is, first fill the concrete box, and then bury it (according to the principle of how well rings are buried).

  • At the same time, at this stage, there is no need to think about groundwater.
  • There is no danger of ground collapse when digging a pit. The concrete structure itself, when buried, will protect against this.
  • Everything can be done on your own, with one hand.
The only thing, the bottom, will need to be poured with sweat, and in water... But there is no getting away from this, and we will deal with it along the way.

And now, first of all, you need to make the formwork.

βœ… I decided to make the size of the concrete septic tank 2 by 2.5 meters, and 1 meter in height. And first, I will fill in the general outline, and I will fill in the internal partitions that will divide it into compartments only later.

To begin with, I removed the fertile layer, and part of the loam, until water began to show through.

I decided to make the formwork itself from OSB sheets, wrapping them with foil.

I had to buy several sheets, but the film will protect them from moisture, and I think I can still use these sheets on the farm.

I already had experience pouring a concrete basement in your home.

And in that work, the main mistake was that I underestimated the mass of concrete. When the walls of the formwork began to collapse, I had to run urgently and put up supports.

Therefore, in working with a septic tank, I decided that there would be few supports.

But here, too, I miscalculated.

Several planks, and there are very few supports on such an area of a concrete wall.

Looking ahead, I will say that here, when pouring concrete, it was not without problems.

βœ… And already now, I can definitely say that supports and props, in similar high structures do poorly. And it is very difficult to ensure the safety of geometry when pouring concrete, because the tree will still "play", and the earth will be a poor support.

The best option, there will be screeds for the walls of metal studs, but here the cost also increases.

Something like that. The image is taken for example from Yandex images.
And at that time, I thought that my formwork was just perfect, and would withstand any loads.

subscribe to the channel, and like it πŸ‘. All the fun is yet to come.
