Figs and persimmons in Krasnodar - a miracle or a norm
On August 9 it was no longer 55 ° C in the sun, but cooler, 45 degrees. And my father and I went to visit, to the dacha of his school friends. Father and Uncle Lesha are 79 years old, they have been friends since the 1st grade. Aunt Lida is younger.
The dacha we came to was exemplary for 30 years, if not 40. This year, the owners were able to leave for it only on May 16 (usually from the end of February, they began to prepare for the season by arrivals).
Uncle Lesha was always very hardworking. His irrigation system from the distribution tank still works. The garden is planted by him. The harvest was enough for several families. Not so in the past few years. The years take their toll.
With all this, not a moment of sadness flashed!
We were very happy.
Fig
My impressions were indelible. Imagine, almost without care, everything grows and bears fruit.
Figs and persimmons just hit.
Figs from the tree that don't need to be washed are delicious!
The tree is mature, 3 meters tall, very spreading. And 4 rooted cuttings for friends are growing nearby, already a meter in height. Oasis!
The only thing is that this variety is absolutely not intended for storage. It starts to deteriorate the next day. Therefore, they either eat it quickly, or make jam.
I grew up in Krasnodar, we did not have such exotic trees.
I read that there are frost-resistant varieties of figs, even for the middle lane. I would not dare to grow in Kursk. And in Krasnodar it grows! In my eyes, this is an overseas miracle!
And what a persimmon!
And here is this southern miracle:
In 2007, this persimmon froze. One living root bud was found, and this tree grew from it. Was it worth the risk of planting a southern tree in Krasnodar?
Last year, 1,300 persimmons were collected from it! Of course it was worth it!
The fruits are small, pitted, if ripe, they do not knit. Their orange color appears in October. And persimmon ripens in December. And kept on the branches. It only becomes tastier. It should be removed by mid-January.
This persimmon reproduces, to the delight of neighbors, by root shoots. Not fast, but no hassle. You look, and you have a future tree between the strawberries. I would not refuse such a gift :)
Do you think figs and persimmons in Krasnodar are a miracle or a norm?
I would be grateful for your subscription and communication :)
