How does a well work without a bucket or a rope?
Hello.
I can not help but share an interesting well that we met during a trip to Ukraine. The well is interesting in that it does not work like the others. There is no bucket in it, no rope that pulls it up.
The scheme of the device is called "Romanian". Everything is simple here - the construction of such wells was carried out by Romanian prisoners after the Second World War. Filmed how it works ...
If anything, then the video was filmed for our Canadian friends, they have never seen this in their life.
As you can see, the head of the well is cast from vintage concrete. Three pipes are built into the upper part. They converge at one point - a pipe with a larger diameter. An ordinary chain with barrels is passed through it.
The entire chain is pulled through the vertical pipe and forms a circle. By rotating the chain, you lift the water up a vertical pipe, from where it is distributed through three pipes.
Thus, three people at once can draw water at the same time. No queues or heavy physical exertion. This is not for you to pull a bucket, and even so as not to splash.
Your comments are highly welcome!
Have you seen something like this somewhere?
