The first tests of my homemade septic tank. I am happy about the first successes, and I think what to do with the shortcomings.

Preliminary testing is an integral part of any serious production. My self-construction, although it does not fall into this category, still did not go without this important stage.

It is not enough to spend a lot of time and effort on making a concrete septic tank with your own hands.

Now you need to make sure that all this will work.

Having dug a pit under the filtration field, I laid the first drainage pipe, which will be an emergency option.

In general, clarified water from the second compartment of the septic tank will be discharged into the filtration field using a pump. But in case of his refusal, I decided to install an emergency drain, which will prevent sewage from overflowing the septic tank.

Multiple cuts were made in the pipe using a grinder.

Meanwhile, the septic tank itself was filled with water.

Water poured into the first compartment, then through the overflow into the second (at the same time I checked this unit).

Well, in the end, through the emergency drain, water flowed into the filtration field.

And then I discovered an unpleasant nuance.

Since the soil was loam, the water was not immediately absorbed, but spread along the bottom of the pit. It turns out that when the pump will discharge water (although above this level), it will still drain through the rubble to the bottom.

In this case, there is a possibility that through this emergency drain, water will flow back into the septic tank. And here it all depends on the volume of wastewater.

But I could only check my fears in practice, and for this it was necessary to fill up all the rubble and lay the main drainage pipes.
