They scare me that the filtration field for a septic tank can freeze π€·ββοΈ. I explain why this will not happen.
I don't like to be smart, but sometimes I have to π. Otherwise, it seems that some people do not want to think at all.
Everything, now everything is for sure... Completed construction wastewater collection and treatment systems in my house. It seemed a little work stretched out for a long time.
About how I did everything with my own hands, from a septic tank to a filtration field, read on my channel.
All drainage pipes of the filtration field are installed, everything is working. It remains to hide all this from the eyes, covering it with soil, which was dug out from here.
And here a seemingly logical question may arise.
β Water! Winter! The depth of freezing in the region is about 1 meter ...
And what layer of soil should there be so that this whole system does not freeze?
I thought about this, a long time ago (probably before the start of the construction of the house itself). At the same time, many "Internet specialists" are afraid of this problem.
Of course, no one bury the filtration field to the depth of freezing, and hardly anyone makes a meter-high embankment from above.
I dug about 30-40 cm of soil from above ...But how will this system work in winter?
1. Water movement.
If the water moves it will never freeze. In fertile soil, clay, etc. of course the water freezes, because it costs... But in the rubble hardly.
2. Waste water heat.
This is what "warms up" the first reason. Until, conditionally, warm water from the septic tank will spread through all the drainage pipes, and then along the rubble, it will have time to reach the "warm" base, which will already be heated by the bowels.
And here the following factor is important.
3. Correct deviation.
If water rises somewhere along the way, then over time, an ice jam may form. Therefore, I laid all the drainage pipes at an angle.
4. Snow protection.
This is the final argument. Of course, anything in nature can happen, but I have never seen a frosty winter without snow. And snow is the main natural insulation, which is a sin not to use.
You clean the area next to the house. Where to throw off the snow? To the place where the filtration field is.
Nobody walks there and you can throw at least a meter. Here is additional insulation.
Of course anything can happen, and maybe it's all beautiful in words.
But I adhere to this theory, which we will soon test.
