Why do pensioners "plow" in the country and why is this a path to nowhere?
My neighbors are two deeply retired people, whose faces I hardly know.
And it's not about the fence separating us, not at all. The fact is that during the summer cottage season (which lasts from April to November)
their fifth point is an order of magnitude higher than the first point (face).
In other words, the neighbors plow from morning to evening.
A sign that has been proven over the years: if you wake up at 6 in the morning and go to the window, with a 90% probability I will see my pensioners poking around on their site.
People get up pretty darn early: around 5-6 in the morning and continue to work on the site until 8-9 in the evening. Of course, they have an exemplary plot: not a single extra blade of grass, the lawn is always mowed even despite the absence lawn mowers (in the 21st century they mow by hand!), tomatoes are always larger than store tomatoes, and all garden trees are always whitewashed and trimmed.
Surely in this description you recognized one of your workaholic neighbors. There are such in all cities of Russia. But one thing is invariable - they are all retirees.
Young people now value their time much more and do not forget to LIVE. After poking around from morning to evening at the dacha, pensioners do not see life at all: neither cultural trips, nor trips to rest.
At the same time, all the same, 5-6 hectares, which remained from the construction of the house, will hardly give so much harvest that you will never go to the store for vegetables and fruits.
So the question is: why spend your life putting in perfect order and planting hundreds of bushes of tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers?
This takes a lot of time, does not always bring results and takes away their freedom from gardeners: you cannot go to the sea or visit relatives in another city.
It is much more reasonable to arrange recreation areas, sow them with a lawn, plant beautiful evergreens - thuja, junipers, ate. And leave a couple of beds with greens and unpretentious root crops.
I believe that our youth in their attitude to the dacha is much wiser than the older generation, and can find a balance between entertainment and gardening.
Which side are you on?
