Two foams from different companies. I try both with insulation, and I try to understand: "What's the difference?"
A bunch of names, different characteristics and prices... Sometimes this abundance is more problematic than beneficial. And how can a beginner figure it out?
"Hire specialists!" - so many will advise. But this story is not about me. So we understand, determine, and draw conclusions... All by ourselves.
EPPS (extruded polystyrene foam) is now a fairly popular material. And there are many options for its use in private construction. So far, I needed it to be used in arranging an insulated blind area around my house.
And when choosing, I started from the following ...
- Availability in the store. It seems that nowadays you can get everything, but the costs of these searches and delivery may turn out to be incommensurate with the benefits received.
β So I decided to focus on manufacturers that are probably in any store.
- Then it was necessary to choose from useful characteristics. In EPS, it is density. The higher it is, the greater the load the insulation can withstand.
In my opinion, it is worth bothering with this question, only when arranging the foundation for a house (and in practice I was definitely convinced of this).
β And in my case, with a blind area, you can take the standard density, or even less.
- Well, the price. Here I chose which is cheaper, starting from the previous criteria.
And the specific manufacturer is not important at all.
First, I bought an EPPS from Technonikol.
By the way, to all those who like to write that every mention of the company name is an advertisement, I want to disappoint you. Nobody ordered it π©. But if representatives of firms see me, I'm ready... Hear, ready. For money π.
I insulated the entire blind area with it. By all my criteria, he won.
And according to the first sensations, it was very dense.
And when arranging insulation under the porch, I bought the more expensive Penoplex, series "foundation".
I plan to put the porch on the insulation itself, so I took the densest one.
And to be honest, I didn't feel much difference. Of course it is a little denser, but not barely perceptible.
There are no more differences (except color)!
Weight, structure, dimensions of sheets are all identical.
So, friends, this article is more likely to be anti-advertising of all brands, and what logo flaunts on the sheet of insulation is not important.
β Make a choice based on your own benefit. And the quality, especially according to the criteria of private housing construction, is absolutely the same.
And even the density with which they can lure you will not play a special role in practice.
Subscribe to the channel and like it. Your opinion in the comments is also very important, maybe I don't understand why??? Write and enlighten π.
