Why lily flowers at shallow or how to fix departure
Even last year, Lily revealed large flowers. Now the plant can not boast of the size of... The flowers are still beautiful and pleasing to the soul, but visibly crushed. If the situation is, unfortunately, familiar, the publication will help to find the cause, remove it and wait again lush flowering by 10 out of 10!
I'll start with the very rare but dangerous factor - diseases. Gardener needs to know about them just in case.
The worst enemy of bulbous plants - rot. It occurs due to the vigorous activity of fungi in damp conditions. Therefore, in the area of risk lily whose owner loves generously watered flowerbeds. And sometimes the cause of getting a cold and rainy summer: just like we have now!
Plant whose bulb rot starts worse, not only to bloom, but also look at the whole. The growth of stems and leaves slows down the last turn black and fall off.
The only way out - quickly dig up the bulbs to process drugs, dried and put back.
If the bulb is healthy, but it does not give large flowers, it is exhausted. Nutrients are simply not enough to give bloom "as it should be." By its very nature obliged lily bloom in the summer and all the resources it starts up on this process, sacrificing size.
Here are three reasons why the bulb is exhausted and "not fatten":
1. The plant does not know fertilizing. Some gardeners think, why bother with fertilizer, if the lily, and so gorgeous blooms. Indeed, but for the time-to-time. I am sure that fertilization of flowering plants should be an ordinary event, and not a "holiday", which the plant is waiting for 1-2 years.
We need to start regular fertilization. In the second half of the summer - with emphasis on phosphorus and potassium.
2. The bulb does not have time to gain weight. This happens when the gardener cuts the stems and leaves at a time when they are "live". In vain: the green part of the lily bulb still will greatly benefit by participating in photosynthesis, oxygen metabolism and other important processes.
Therefore, it is not necessary to cut off the lily (exception - withered flowers, of course).
3. close proximity. Lilies look spectacular in a dense planting. But do not close. When the kids get too many large and small bulbs can not divide nutrients, sunlight, moisture. On average, the hospital suffer all.
Just need to stick to the recommended distances and timing of transplantation for a specific type of lilies. For example, Asian lilies are advised to repot every 1-2 years; and the distance between adults bulbs should be 10-15 cm.
Indirectly affects the size of roses and then, what is summer: sunny, rainy, cool or sultry. Pan the lilies of care, based on the weather conditions. And they are sure to delight you! 🌷
