I decided to set fire to EPS and regular foam 🔥. Are such materials really non-combustible?

The flammability of building materials is of great importance, especially when it is used in large quantities. And for your home, it is "not a sin" to be convinced of everything in practice.

All construction greetings. Friends, in one of my articles, I talked about how I used ordinary foam plastic, filling up the gaps under the eaves of the roof.

And one of the advantages of this material, I pointed out its non-flammability.

But then I relied on the characteristics stated by the manufacturer.

In my case, the foam was marked "PSB-S", where the letter "C" means non-combustible, or rather, does not support combustion.

That's exactly what I was buying.

But I have always been sure that all such materials burn with a "blue flame".

So I had to make sure of the manufacturer's words in practice. And for comparison, I decided to burn the EPSP.

To my surprise, no matter how much I tried to ignite the Styrofoam, it didn't catch fire.

• And the maximum lit up for a couple of seconds, and then it went out ...

At the same time, EPS, smoked in black.

In a fire, it is this smoke that has the main danger. So I don't recommend using it for internal work.

It is interesting that when a piece of EPS turned into some kind of dirty puddle, which continued to burn for another seven minutes ...

Here is such a small discovery for me.

Of course, inside the house, no one uses mountains of foam or EPS, and besides these materials there is something to burn there. But it happens that this "drop" and saves life in an emergency.
