A neighbor suggested a clever way to water flowers when no one is home
Once my wife and I were going to go to rest with my parents in the village for almost a whole month. As usual, when we leave somewhere for a long time, I went to my neighbor to give her the keys to the house so that she would come in and water our indoor plants a couple of times a week. Marya Gavrilovna is a kind-hearted person and always helped us out in this situation, but this time the neighbor did not began to take the keys, since two days later she was also going to visit her distant relatives.
As soon as I thought about what to do now, Marya Gavrilovna smiled and said: "Don't worry, I recently found out one an easy way to water flowers when no one is home. Now I'll show you everything! " When I saw how she carried out watering of her indoor plants, I was very surprised how simple everything is! My wife and I took this advice and, having arrived home a month later, we saw that all our flowers were in good condition and some of them even bloomed.
Today I will share with you this tricky way of watering houseplants and maybe it will come in handy for someone.
First of all, we need some kind of container, in which the walls are at least 10 mm high. A tray works great, or you can cut a 5 liter plastic bottle lengthwise. For example, I used plastic boxes from an old refrigerator.
If the flower is in a large pot, then you can take a basin.
Now we need an ordinary plastic bottle of any volume (if only it fits into the container).
We take an awl or a nail, heat it with a lighter and make a hole almost at the very bottom of the bottle.
Then we make the second hole a little higher, stepping back from the first hole about 10 - 15 mm.
Now we put all the flowers that fit in the container, leaving room for the bottle, and pour some water into it. Then we fill the bottle with water, pinching the holes with our fingers, and put it in the container along with the flowers (the bottle must be closed).
That's it, now you can go on vacation or to the country with peace of mind. Your plants will not wither, because they will receive enough moisture! The whole trick is that, as needed, water from the bottle will flow into the container until its level is established exactly in the middle of the two holes, and from the container water will penetrate to the plant roots through the holes in the pots, thereby constantly feeding them moisture.
