Modification of the combined machine: jointer and thicknessing tool in one machine
Last fall, I purchased a combination machine that combines a jointer and a thickness gauge.
The machine is well suited for a home workshop, the main thing is not to load it too much. Better to make more passes when planing with a small removal, then it will last a long time.
This machine is budgetary and of course not devoid of disadvantages. I ran into one of these when I began to actively use the jointer.
The stop, which was installed on the machine, had to be periodically adjusted, since the angle of 90 got lost, and the stop itself was somewhat flimsy.
I found a solution for this from a Spaniard Suso Caamanho (Suso Kamanyu)
He has the same machine as mine, only the brand is different, and he made an emphasis for a plywood jointer, with the addition of some buns.
Its stop provides for movement along the knives, which allows you to use different sections of the knives when planing.
When planing at an angle, it is convenient that the workpiece support is large.
The device of this stop uses fasteners on the machine itself, which is quite convenient.
Next, briefly about how this structure works.
Two plywood corners are added to the plywood part, which is rigidly fixed to the machine.
They are connected with each other by another piece and this serves as the basis for moving the stop.
When installed, this part is aligned with the table, but with a clearance of 0.5 mm.
A groove is made in the middle for a hardwood lath. The rail is glued into this groove and serves as a guide for the stop.
As you can see from the photo, the base for the stop is a part with a groove in the middle for sliding and two grooves along the edges for fixing.
The stop board is movable and fixed on card hinges. When installing, a pair of cardboard is placed under the board to raise it above the table by half a millimeter.
The rotation is secured by a pair of plywood arcs with a groove.
And also note: the photo shows that the edge at the stop board is cut off at a slight angle. This allows the table to be avoided when setting the planing at an angle.
