There are never too many clamps. Manufacturing of wooden clamps for gluing thin panels
I propose to look at the construction of wooden clamps, which are well suited for gluing thin panels.
With these clamps, the clamp screw is located quite close to the base of the clamp and this allows you to gently squeeze rather thin workpieces.
How it was done. Dimensions
Next, I will tell you the manufacturing sequence, indicating the dimensions of the parts.
When making these clamps, I used pine blocks for the base. 40x45x800 mm., and the rest of the details were made of birch.
In the long bars, I made grooves on the router.
There is a publication about the device of this milling table here, and about the carriage for the router - here.
I first made the block for the screw clamp twice as long as needed - 182x40x45 mm. I marked a groove on it and immediately drilled several holes to make it easier to make this groove.
The grooves were made on a circular with the help of a device, about which told earlier.
Next, I sawed these parts, and prepared a part for installing the screw on a drilling machine.
As close as possible to the groove, first drilled a hole 19 mm., and then 12 mm. The hole was drilled in the center of the bar at a distance 30 mm from the top.
Into the hole 19 mm it is possible to hammer the nut tightly for the threaded stud M12.
At the base of the clamp I drilled a row of holes with a step 50 mm and depth 30 mm. The first hole was indented 120 mm from the edge of the stop.
A stop, with an installed nut, glued into the base of the clamp.
And the next step I prepared the bars, which went to the mobile clamp and to the screw clamp.
For the movable clamp, I cut off a bar of size 40x40x42 mm., and for the screw clamp I prepared two parts: a bar 40x42x30 mm. and plywood 40x42x6 mm.
In a smaller block, I first drilled a hole on 22 mm. and depth along the thickness of the nut - drilled in the center and on 30 mm from the edge, and then drilled through it 12 mm drill.
Drilled a hole in the center of the side in a larger block 40x40 mm. drill on 12 mm and depth 30 mm. - this is for the pin.
I cut the pins from a round stick, which I made on a router. To do this, I cut off a bar with a section 12x12 mm and radius cutter with radius 6.35 mm., passed it from 4 sides.
Then I cut the pins and glued them into the previously prepared holes.
The handle was made of birch. Handle size - 30x30x80 mm. I drilled a hole from the end of the handle 12 mm and depth 30 mm. Hairpin cut into 165 mm. A hole for a pin, in the handle and the hairpin I made at the same time - I drilled in the center of the handle at a distance 20 mm from the edge, with a drill 3 mm.
Shaped for the handle on a belt sander.
Further, before assembly, I painted parts of the clamp.
On one side of the stud, I screwed on a nut and flattened it a little to fix it. Next, scroll through the gallery to see the screw clamp assembly.
I pasted the handle on epoxy and additionally fixed it with a pin from a nail trim.
And as a result, I got a few more clamps in my workshop.
