Torketting is the process of sealing cracks in concrete!
Today we will continue talking about cracks in concrete and how to fill them. Consider the second method of filling cracks - torquetting.
Torquetting also called spraying. Process torquetting includes spraying construction composition from cement-sand mixture under pressure on the surface to be repaired. As a result torquetting existing cracks, chips, depressions are filled, and an additional concrete layer, which strengthens the concrete structure, protects it from external influences and increases the operational period.
Via torquetting it is possible to repair horizontal and vertical concrete surfaces indoors and outdoors. Previously, cracks should be expanded and cleaned of dust, dirt, concrete fractions, only after that filling work should be carried out.
For torquetting a special building mixture is used. In hardware stores, you can buy a ready-made composition, or prepare it yourself. Mix for torquetting includes cement, fine sand, water, and a polymer additive, which can be bitumen or epoxy.
The torqueting process is carried out using two technologies:
- Dry mix torqueting. The work is done with flexible hoses and a compressor. Under pressure, a composition of sand and cement passes through one sleeve, and water goes separately through the second. Once in the nozzle, they are mixed and fed to the surface of the concrete structure at a speed of more than 150 m / s. Such a spraying process provides effective filling of cracks even in hard-to-reach places, creating a thick concrete protective layer, and is performed quite quickly. The disadvantages of this technology are that the working area remains very contaminated. Dry mix torqueting should only be carried out by a qualified technician.
- Spraying with a ready-made solution. To carry out the work, you will need a ready-made cement-sand composition, which will be supplied to the surface of a concrete structure in need of repair using a concrete pump. The work is carried out from a short distance. This method saves material consumption, provides a uniform surface coverage with a homogeneous composition.
If you are using concrete structures, carry out preventive work to avoid the appearance of cracks, as well as regularly inspect concrete surfaces for chips, cracks and depressions. Remember that repairing fresh small cracks is easier and cheaper than overhauling a structure.
